Onsdag den 15. juni ankommer Flygtningebåden Anton til Allinge Havn. Ombord på båden er 70 bådflygtninge, der vil søge asyl på øen frem til den 18. juni, og de stævner ind i havnen ombord på Landsforeningen Levende Havs ombyggede og tætpakkede fiskekutter med håb om at blive taget godt imod af øens beboere.
Antons passagerer er dog ikke levende mennesker, men livagtige bronzeskulpturer fremstillet af kunstneren Jens Galschiøt. Flygtningebåden er et kunstværk og en politisk manifestation, der bringer fornemmelsen af verdens flygtningeproblemer helt ind i de danske havne for at skabe eftertanke og debat om, hvad vi skal stille op med de mange bådflygtninge, verden allerede har, og som vi kan forudse i de kommende år. Folk flygter ikke for sjov. Vi må fastholde over for beslutningstagere, at vi alle har et ansvar for at forebygge årsagerne til, at mennesker flygter. Flygtningene fortæller både om det problem, at de skal finde et sted at opholde sig og leve deres liv – og om de problemer, der har fordrevet dem fra deres hjem.
M/S Antons flygtningeprojekt handler om dem, der flygter, men vi glemmer ikke dem, der bliver ladt tilbage. Når kystnære områder rundt i verden affolkes og forarmes, skyldes det ofte et voldsomt pres fra kapitaltungt, internationalt industrifiskeri. Og bemærkelsesværdigt nok har Bornholm i de senere år lidt under politiske og økonomiske forandringer, der kan sammenlignes med dem, der påføres befolkningerne langs Afrikas kyster. Folk er naturligvis ikke flygtet fra Bornholm, som vi ser det i den fattige verdens flygtningestrømme - men Bornholm affolkes, fordi vor fælles fiskeresurse er blevet gjort til handelsvare, hvilket verden over fører til, at de lokale fiskerettigheder forsvinder.
Antons besætning medbringer derfor, udover sine bådflygtninge, også vores perspektiv på udviklingen i dansk fiskeri – et perspektiv som vi gerne vil dele og diskutere med bornholmerne.
